The #Journey

Mr. Chandak originally hails from Nandgaon. His family ran a traditional grocery store. Sunil managed the grocery store and at the same time educated himself up to B.Com. His father wished for him to manage the family’s traditional business. But Sunil wanted to do something different. He felt that along with himself, he should generate employment for others too. Accidently, everything happened as he desired. This story is quite interesting.

Mr. Chandak sought admission for MBA at BYK College. As part of the management course, he had to attend a seminar on entrepreneurship in Mumbai. The then director of MITCON, Mr. Ranade, addressed the seminar which left Chandak deeply inspired. He directly met Mr. Ranade and asked him, “Sir, I want to be an entrepreneur, what should I do?” Ranade told him to join the entrepreneur training program of MITCON. As a part of his MBA, Chandak had prepared a Project on the theme ‘What is the policy of the government on marketing’? Hence while appearing for an interview at MITCON, he answered all the questions with ease and he got the job easily.

Initially, Chandak was sent by MITCON to Ahmedabad for Six – month training. Under the program, he had to deliver a lecture on a subject every week. Since Chandak was a man of few words, he encountered difficulty while lecturing. When his boss came to know, they summoned him and asked the reason. Chandak told them that his family did not have the tradition of Learning, so how can he teach? But his bosses did not listen. The matter came to such a pass that Chandak decided to quit the job. But it was not easy either. Since he had executed the bond for the job, he was told to first pay Rs 2 lakh and quit the job.

But then Chandak accepted all this as a challenge. He met the best lecturer in the training camp. He learned the techniques of lectureship and practiced them intensely. His hard work finally paid off. And in a short time, Chandak became the best lecturer of that training camp.

After the conclusion of the training camp, he was sent on tours. Entrepreneurial Development programs of MITCON were organized all over the state. His Duty was to visit the district, hold entrepreneurial development training camps, and inform participants about the various schemes of the government. From 1985 to 1989, Chandak traveled all over Maharashtra. In the meantime, he organized a training program for women in Nashik in 1987 and invited the then industry minister. At the Programme, a Special Announcement Was Made about allotment of land was allotted as announced, and later on, the state Entrepreneurship Development Training Center Programme was also established. Some employees of MITCON were shifted to this center and the work was going in full swing. But in 1994, Chandak met with a serious accident and was the bed – period, he started thinking about the pros and cons of continuing with this government job. He realized that their many limitations in the present job and also that he could not give practical knowledge to the aspirants who wanted to start their own trade or industry and it was during this period that he started toying with the idea of launching a new business.

Chandak got completely healed after three months and quit the fat- salaried job. He opened his own institute and named it “Udyogwardhini.”
